- Caroline Cole Review added: 2018.11.25★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆Very disappointed in the cruelty of this agency dumping a frail, confused and dependent 92 year old patient because she was in hospital for two-and-a-half weeks. She had been with the same carers for between 5 and 10 years all of whom TUPEd over to Abbots in November 2017 when Leonard Cheshire Care Agency stopped trading. Abbots dumped her after a couple of weeks in hospital and refused to reinstate the care. Family member tried to get in touch with the owners of the business to ask why and negotiate some compromise and received no reply to the voice message. The patient who has extremely complex and intensive needs was left with no care, no explanation and no apology. How cruel is this?
The tardy response sent by the owner of the agency to the review above is not good enough. She claims three things, all of which are lies.
i. She claims that I never complained but I did complain via a telephone call asking her to call me back which she never had the courtesy to do.
ii. It is not Hertfordshire commissioning group that stopped the care as they were as surprised as I was at my aunt being dumped after only two weeks; only a money-grabbing business with no regard for the longevity of relationships between carers and client would dump someone after two weeks, and
iii. The owner claims she would take back my aunt but this is the very thing I asked them to do which they refused - so again, another lie.
Also, the owner claims she got in touch with Herts CC to let them know that my aunt needed care. This is not so, as I mention above, the commissioner was as surprised as I was that the care had been withdrawn.
I would never go to Abbotscare again - we have, indeed, found a caring agency that is attending to my aunt's needs in a patient-centred rather than a manual and money-centred care approach. This new care agency makes Abbotscare look like a bunch of incompetent and cruel amateurs.
If anyone is looking for good as opposed to abusive home care, go to CAREBRIDGE and give Abbots a wide berth.
